Calling All Cali Girls

So MAC made a lipstick exclusively for us amazing Cali girls, and the best part... IT'S FREE! The lipstick is called California Dreamin' and it's described as "a pretty baby blue pink (lustre)". Oooh, so pretty. And it's LE, so once it's gone, it's gone forever.

It's exclusive only to people who live in California, and originally we were supposed to be sent a postcard, but apparently there's an email going around now, so here's the link! Just print it out and present it at any MAC freestanding or PRO store and get the free lipstick. Offer ends June 30, 2008, SO HURRY BEFORE STORES RUN OUT!!!

Credit to Fabu-less Beauty. I hope she doesn't mind me stealing her email :)

I've yet to get my lipstick, so I'm kinda antsy right now. Don't you hate anticipating getting something? AHHH, it's killing me. If they run out, I just might cry.

Ok, well that's all for now. Enjoy your day!

So Your Going On Vacation...

Well... long time no update! Since I don't have school, I think my excuse this time will be... how about the 100 degree weather here in San Diego. I'm sweating up a storm!! Just kidding, I don't really sweat (thank goodness), but still, MAN IT'S HOT!!!!! Which I guess is good, because that reminds me that it's summer, and that means VACATIONS!!! So this summer, I'm going to Fort Lauderdale (Florida), Chicago (Illinois), Las Vegas (Nevada), and Cabo (Mexico). Oooh, vacations galore. And of course, along with vacations comes PACKING. And not everybody can bring their whole traincase on vacation, so us girls gotta tone it down. Here's what I bring on vacation, hopefully it will help somebody out there. Enjoy!

Face

Revlon ColorStay Concealer- Being a teenager, concealer is a must have because every time one pimple goes away, another one forms. It's seriously a never ending battle. Concealer helps me conceal my blemishes (duh), and I like this one because it's specifically for pimples and stuff like that. I don't really need undereye concealer, but I'm sure this one can be used for that too.

Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15- Besides the few blemishes on my face, there's nothing really wrong with my skin, so I don't think I'll be needing a real foundation. Tinted moisturizer is perfect because it gives me the slightest amount of color/coverage and it has SPF, so it protects my skin. Plus, this is much easier to travel with than a glass bottle of foundation, like my MAC Hyper Real SPF 15 and I don't exactly need a brush to apply it. AND, I don't have to bring moisturizer, cause it's already one! Damn, so many great things about tinted moisturizer.

Benefit Georgia- It's an amazing blush and all over color. I can't even explain it, but it seriously just makes me glow, and it doesn't even have shimmer. SO much better than bronzer in my opinion. I haven't touched my Too Faced Caribbean In A Compact since my mom gave this to me. Amazing, and it comes with a brush! The only con is that it is kinda bulky, but I'll make room for it.

I guess for those of you who need coverage, you can bring a powder or something, but I don't need it, so that's all for face products. I guess you can also throw Fix+ into your bag, but I really try to be as compact as possible.

Eyes

CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara Waterproof- Mascara is necessary for me, and this one is waterproof, so when I go to the beach or swimming and stuff, it will hold up, instead of making me look like I have a black eye.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Zero- Black eyeliner that's smudge proof. Needless to say, this is a must have.

Neutral Eyeshadows- This depends on whatever you have. I'd either bring a MAC Eyeshadow Quad with a bunch of neutrals (Orb, Naked Lunch, Satin Taupe, and Bronze would be my picks) or any other group of neutral eyeshadows. For me, it would be my Stila On-The-Go quad. Whatever you have, as long as it's a lot of shadows in a compact space. Space is key. Plus, who needs to do a bunch of wild looks on vacation? Stick to neutrals.

I'd also throw in a base like Loreal's Decrease or Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Lips

Carmex- This can be replaced by MAC's Lip Conditioner (I believe it has SPF) or just plain old chapstick. Anything to keep your lips moisturized.

MAC Slimshines- It's like a lipgloss and lipstick in one, AND it's slim. MUST HAVE for vacation. I have it in Gentle Simmer, but I seriously need to get more.

In addition, I would bring my Boots No7 Quick Thinking 4 in 1 Wipes because it removes makeup, cleanses, tones, and moisturizes. Sooo easy, cause then I don't have to bring all these face washes and what not.

Well, that's all I'd bring. I'd probably need brushes too, but I'm too lazy to go into detail about that. You get the idea. I'd store it all in a cute, roomy makeup bag, instead of a traincase, cause those are easier to travel with. I'm sure there's other beauty necessities, like eye creams, primers, and whatever, but I'm just sticking to essentials, cause that's the kinda girl I am. If you have a complicated beauty routine, that's fine, but I just stick to the basics, and it's always worked for me.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Have a great summer!

MAC Cool Heat

What an ironic name? Well, here's the latest MAC Collection! Dang, I'm gonna be homeless before summer ends. Just kidding, I'm totally cutting back. I realized I can't be a MAC collector with the budget I'm on. So basically I'm just getting the essentials and stuff I'll use like every day.

Some looks are too hot for summer to handle but not Cool Heat. Sweltering corals, chill-out blues, complemented by Turquatic and its warm new sister shade, Turquatic Heat, create this season's coolest - and steamiest - beauty paradox.

Slimshines

I really want to try a slimshine, but I'm not really loving any of these colors. Eh...

Eye shadows

Absolutely loving Warming Trend and Blue Flame. I don't have any true blues, and this one just look gorgeous. They're also both Veluxe Pearl and I don't have any of those, so I would definitely like to try one.

Creations Hue: Turquatic

I don't really need a MAC Perfume, and this isn't limited edition, so I wouldn't rush to pick it up.

Creations Hue: Turquatic Heat

I can't really judge something I haven't smelled yet, but I already have a perfume, but those of you who are looking for a summer scent might want to check this out!

There it is. I know a lot of people are excited for this collection, and just by looking on the Internet, I'm not too disappointed. I just wish they had face products like blushes or something. I also wish they had pigments (I really want a neutral one, and the only neutral pigment from Naughty Nauticals was Lark About, and I already have Vanilla so yeah...) because I want to expand my pigment collection. So that's all for now. Schools over on Thursday, so I'll definitely be posting and hauling way more often. But this week I have to prepare for finals, so don't expect much. I'll talk to you all later!

Thanks for reading!

xoxo,
Katie

MAC and Drugstore Haul

So I went to a MAC freestanding store this weekend, and I got some stuff, and I also went to Walmart and got a couple of things there too! My one disappointment was that they ran out of 15 pallets at the MAC store, so I had to put my pans back into my empties. Ugh, they better get a new shipment soon. Anyways, here's what I got!

MAC Eyeshadow in Naked Lunch, $10.50

This shadow is described as minimal pink with shimmer, and it's just the most gorgeous color ever, whether it's for the entire lid, or as a highlight!

MAC Eyeshadow in Satin Taupe, $10.50

This is a great crease color and goes perfectly with Naked Lunch. I bought it for a look I'm gonna do for my cousins wedding. I'm super excited. This color is described as taupe brown with silvery bronze shimmer. SOO GORGEOUS!

MAC 3 Lashes

These lashes and long and luxurious, but kinda natural looking at the same time, and the MAC MA already cut them for me to match my eye shape, so I don't even have to worry about that!

Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara Waterproof, $6.97

I haven't tried this yet, and I've heard mixed reviews about this, but I just really needed a waterproof mascara for summer, so I thought I might as well give this a try. Hopefully it can hold a curl and won't budge.

Salon Perfect Eyelash Adhesive, $2.97

I was considering getting the one from MAC, but I'm trying to save money, so I thought I'd give this one a try. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Here's a pic, sorry for the crappy lighting!

That's it! I can't wait to try out all my new products and go to the wedding!

MAC Naughty Nauticals

IT'S ONLINE NOW AND AVAILABLE! But I swear, in the next two hours, it won't be. Anyways, here's an overview of the collection!

Sailors, ahoy! In her fleet of pinks, corals, reds, and the deepest navy Nail Lacquer seen this side of Marseilles, she's uniformly chic, and cruising for romance. In style and desire, she's poised for perfection. Go overboard!

Naughty Nautical (LE)- Shade description: Dark royal blue (Frost)
Shirelle- Shade description: Classic she's a dame red (Cream)

This collection is extremely cute, but to be honest, there's not much that I want from it. Basically just the stuff I bolded and maybe a pigment. Sorry I haven't been posting anything good in a while, I've just been super busy. During the summer, I'll definitely get way more into this. For now, you can expect a haul (I've got to get something from Dazzleglass and Naughty Nauticals), random updates, and I still have some ideas like my favorite YouTube makeup channels, and stuff like that. Please stick around and don't desert me!

MAC Dazzleglass

So, I guess it came out today online. Of course, I just got home from school, and what a surprised! It's sold out. Wow... well here's an overview of the new products.

Check out the swatches at maccosmetics.com/

I want one, hopefully I'll be able to get one this weekend. I'm really loving Baby Sparks, Rags to Riches, Money Honey, Bare Necessity and Sugarrimmed. Uh, basically all of them. Hopefully these things don't have chunks of glitter in it, because that is so annoying. If you guys have one, leave a comment on how you like it! When I do get one (if I ever do), I'll for surely do a review on it. I can't believe they're charging $16.50 for them. Not that that's as ridiculous as a Stila Lipglaze, but seriously, this is gonna a burn a hole right through my pocket. Ugh, this is such a love hate thing.

On a side note, can't wait for Naughty Nauticals to come out. Check out Specktra if you want to see what's in the collection ahead of time. They have tons of info on all the upcoming MAC Collections. I'm definately keeping my eye on some shadows and lustreglasses!

MAC DressCamp Collection

Yeah, I know this thing is sold in like 5 stores across the world, and it sold out online in like two hours, but I thought I'd share the collection with you guys anyway. It's basically just like the MAC website, but with my two cents added. No, I didn't get anything, but a girl can dream...

DressCamp

In collaboration with M·A·C, Toshikazu Iwaya inspires a collection that fans fashion flames. Features hot colour, disco-trash metallics, all wrapped-up in immaculate black, white and gold packaging. Like DressCamp - this is wild.

DressCamp x 4 Face Palette, $36.00

Specially customized rectangular compact in gold-coloured metal featuring the collection’s signature black and white DressCamp pattern, crest and hot pink plaque with a gold M·A·C logo. Contains limited edition Beauty Powder in DressCamp Pink (a blue mid-tone pink with white pearlized pigments), three Eye Shadows; Sunny Girl (a yellow gold), Golden Gold (a deep golden bronze), Trend (a Neutral tan with gold pearlized pigments and compact-sized 213SE application brush. Comes packaged in its own coordinated carton.

I WANT THIS SO BADLY!!!! The colors look gorgeous, the packaging is gorgeous, they better make more and put them online, or else I will be very angry. That's all I have to say.

DressCamp Lipstick in Too Fab, $14.00

Traditional M·A·C Lipstick case featuring the collection’s signature black and white DressCamp pattern with an iconic gold star. Comes packaged in its own coordinated carton. Limited edition.

I'm not really a lipstick person, but I figured since there's only like four items in this collection (bummer), I might as well put everything.

DressCamp Lipglass, $14.00

Traditional M·A·C Lipglass vial shows its DressCamp colours with a cap printed in the collection’s signature black and white DressCamp pattern with an iconic gold star screened directly onto the vial. Comes packaged in its own coordinated carton. Limited edition.

She-Gold, Shade description: Yellow gold with gold pearl (Frost)

Geez, besides the face palette, this was the ONLY thing I wanted from this collection, and it's sold out, too. Come on MAC. Seriously? You have MILLIONS of customers WORLDWIDE, and you sell it in only 5 locations, and only have enough online to last for like two hours? Seriously? SERIOUSLY?!?!?! Ok, I'm sorry, that was a little off topic. Anyhoo, I've never had a gold lipgloss before, and this would have been perfect, but no, I can't have it. Stupid MAC :P

Fashion, Shade description: Bright mid-tone pink with white pearl (Frost)

Bright pink on my lips just looks funny, but this seems like a fun and funky color for those of you can pull it off.

All I can really say is I LOVE the collection, but I am just disappointed with the marketing (if that's the right word to use). Until I get my face palette and lipglass without having to spend like $100 on eBay, I will stay upset :(

(Just a side note, I'm not really that angry, I'm just kinda ranting.)

Clinique & MAC Haul

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a long time, I've been super busy lately, but I guess not busy enough to sneak some more makeup into my collection :)

- Clinique High Impact Mascara, $14.00

Well, after using BadGal Lash for three months (that's how long you're supposed to keep your mascara), I figured it was time to try a new one. I've never owned anything Clinique before, but their mascaras seemed decent, and not expensive like Dior or Lancome. I really liked how clean the brush looked, there were no mascara clumps on the brush or anything. I tried it today, and I just loved it! It gave me that dramatic look that I love for my eyelashes, and I think it's better than BadGal because the brush is smaller, so it's not as messy. Don't get me wrong, BadGal was great, but I think I've found my new love :)

- MAC Gold Spill Mineralize Skinfinish, $24.50

Ok, so I know this is discontinued, but I swaped NARS Crazed blush for it on Makeup Alley. This is my first Mineralize Skinfinish, and I am really loving it (geez, I love everything)! It's this really nice golden bronzy color, and it adds the perfect amount of summer "glow" to my cheeks. Being a Cali girl, that's exactly what I'm looking for, even when it's not summer. It is pretty sheer, and there is some sparkle, but that's just what I love about it, because I love to sparkle and shine, but not be too over the top or crazy.

So that's it. Not a big haul, but good enough to share, I think. The pictures I got were from the Clinique website and Google. I would have taken them myself, but in all honesty, I was too lazy. Sorry :) So I'll talk to you guys later! Keep checking back. My next post will probably be on my favorite YouTube makeup channels! Ooh, exciting :)

CCO Haul

I went to the outlet mall today, and there was a CCO there, and I got some stuff. For those of you who don't know, CCO stands for Cometic Company Outlet, and it sells all the makeup brands owned by Estee Lauder (MAC, Origins, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, DKNY fragrances...) for about 30% cheaper. Sometimes they have limited edition stuff, and sometimes they have stuff that is still sold in stores, it all depends.

- MAC Lip Conditioner SPF 15, $10.00

- MAC Lipglass in Bait from the Lure Collection, $10.00

- MAC Blush in Fleurry, $12.25

There was also a Fragrance outlet there, so I got Moschino Funny! perfume.

I got the pictures from Google, Makeup Alley, and eBay!

Coastal Scents Review Part 2

Ok, so I finally got around to using them, and here's a detailed review on each brush!

Pink Kabuki Brush-
This brush is really soft, and dense, and it is really good for buffing on powder. Kabuki brushes can range from $10-$30 and this one was only $4.99 so this is a really amazing deal! I would really recommend this brush. The only other Kabuki Brush I've ever tried is the Bare Escentuals one, and this pink one is probably 100x better.

Pink Angle Blush Brush-
I have the MAC 168 SE, and this brush is almost exactly the same. It's slightly bigger, but not by much. I really like this brush, it's soft and fluffy, and it's great for applying my bronzer or contouring powder. I would also really recommend this brush, even if you already have the 168, because you can never have too many blush brushes.

Pink Blending Fluff Brush-
This brush is really big and fluffy, and I don't really like it. It doesn't seem like it would blend well because it's just so fluffy, that it doesn't retain it's shape, and the bristles just splay out everywhere. I would not recommend getting this brush. All though it is usable, I just don't think it's really that good.

Pink Duo Fiber Powder Stippler-
This brush is SO soft, it's probably softer than the MAC 187, BUT if you want this brush for applying liquid foundation, than do NOT get it. The bristles are just not stiff enough to buff in your foundation, and you will not get that airbrushed look at all. It is just too flimsy to do any buffing. But still, this would be a great powder brush, so if that's all you're going to use it for, then I would definately recommend it. If you're just looking for a foundation Duo Fiber Brush, just get the MAC 187, yes it's a lot of money, but it is definatley worth it. Either that, or wait for the next MAC brush set to come out.

Pink Oval Fluff Shadow Brush-
This brush is really dense, and great for packing on color. It's not super soft, but it's not prickly either. I think for the price, it's a good buy, but overall, there's nothing really special about it.

Pink Round Crease Eye Brush-
Wow, I really love this brush, I think it's perfect for putting in a crease color. The bristles are so densely packed, that it just seems like they're all one unit (if that makes sense). It's perfect for the crease, and even smudging eyeshadow or eyeliner. If you get any brush, I would definately recommend this one.

So that's my brush review. If you've never used MAC or higher end brushes before, then these brushes are probably good enough, but seriously, these are not even comparable to MAC. They're good brushes, and for a good deal, but in they end, they are just not MAC.

Thanks for reading, if you have any questions, just leave a comment!

Coastal Scents Review Part 1

So I just finished washing my Coastal Scents Pink Brushes, and I have to say, I'm kind of dissapointed.

First off, they smell. When I first got the package, I noticed a small odor, but nothing out of the ordinary, so I figured after I washed them, they would smell normal. But, no. After they got wet, they smelled even worse. I cannot describe the smell, but trust me, it isn't pretty.

Second, they did shed. To be honest, the shedding wasn't that bad. A few hairs off the Pink Kabuki, quite a few off the Duo Fiber Stippling Brush, and a few more here and there, but nothing I counldn't handle. I'm not that mad because this was my first time washing them, and I do expect a bit of shedding. Let's just hope the shedding doesn't continue.

Third, the color did bleed. It was pretty bad. My clear shampoo turned black or brown, depending on the brush color. The brushes still have their full color, but it was kind of gross. I hope it's just because this is my first time washing them. On the bright side, the Pink Kabuki Brush didn't bleed, so that's good. Only the eyeshadow and face brushes. Color bleeding isn't really that bad, but if you do get the Coastal Scents brushes, be sure to WASH them BEFORE you USE them.

So, I've got to say, I'm not as impressed as I was when I got them. They're still soft, and they're still retaining their shape, so I guess it's ok. I'll just have to see how they turn out when they dry. I did get my MAC Heirlooms Face Brush set today, and I washed those too, and they did not smell at all, and they did not shed either, so I guess when you buy MAC brushes, you really are paying for the quality, because the brushes I got are only SE (special edition), and they still don't shed, bleed or smell. Oh well, I wasn't expecting much from these brushes anyways, so I still have hope for them.

After these brushes dry, I'll be testing them, completing my review on the Coastal Scents Brushes, and comparing them to the MAC brushes, so stay tuned :)

Thanks for reading!

Coastal Scents Haul

I just recieved my package from Coastal Scents today! Here's a list of what I got, and a review and pictures will be coming soon.

- 20 gram Sifter Jar, 75 cents
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
- Pink Kabuki Brush (EVEN THE BRISTLES ARE PINK!!), $4.99
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
- Pink Angle Blush Brush, $3.99
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
- Pink Blending Fluff Brush, $1.99
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
- Pink Duo Fiber Powder Stippler (Comparable to MAC 187), $7.95
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
- Pink Oval Fluff Shadow Brush, $1.69
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
- Pink Round Crease Eye Brush, $1.49
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Yes, I went a little Pink crazy :) But anyways, I tested them a little, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed, especially at the price they're selling them for. My whole order was only $26.33 including tax and shipping! That's really good for six brushes and a sifter jar (I got the jar to put my broken bronzer in).

You should definatley check out this website, and I will be doing a review on all the brushes once I get my MAC Heirlooms Face Brush set that I got off of eBay, so I can compare some of the brushes. Just from testing them on my hand, I have to say, they are pretty nice, even though the stippling brush did shed a little.

So here's the website, and I hope you all enjoy: Coastal Scents

Thanks for reading and PLEASE subscribe!

MAC Heatherette Haul / Review

Wow! How cute is this collection? The packaging is absolutely ADORABLE, and wayyy better than Fafi. So here's my haul, and a little review on each thing I got :)

-Heatherette Trio 1 ($32.50)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Comes with limited edition shadows in Mood Ring and Hoppin' with the repromote Cloudburst. This trio is sooo perfect for me, since I love greens and blues. Mood Ring is a great highlight, Hoppin' is a great lid color, and Cloudburst is the perfect crease/outer-v color. Cloudburst has little green sparkles in it, which compliment Hoppin' perfectly. It's a really cute trio, with a mirror, which is totally awesome! I just wish it came with a little brush inside, but I'll live. This trio is definatley a must have. The other trio is super cute too, I'm just not much of a pink/purple eyeshadow person.

-Beauty Powder, Smooth Harmony ($22.00)
Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
Described as a medium golden bronze, it's great for people with fair skin as a bronzer or contour color. For people with tan skin like me, it gives a nice all over glow, and it's matte, so it's not all sparkly like the Fafi Iridescent Pressed Powders. I really like this for an all over powder.

-Dual Edge Eye Pencil, Black Funk / Pop Blue ($16.50)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Described as true black / turqouise with silver glitter, I really love this pencil. It's super creamy, and goes on really nicely. The black isn't anything special, but I do love the formula of this pencil, and the turquoise side is soooo pretty, it compliments Hoppin' from Trio 1 perfectly. There is glitter in it, so it's not good for the water line, but it's nice to line your upper and lower lash lines. Over all, a really great thing to have, and they are limited edition, so get them while you can!

Over all, I really like this collection. I might have to go back and get a lipglass in Sock Hop, and I thought Bonus Beat was really cute, but I already had C-Thru and they were really similar, so I didn't really feel like getting it. You should definately check out this collection, everything is packaged so nicely, and the products are really great. I hope you enjoyed reading. Thanks!
